Artfield Fell Wind Farm was the first site developed by DP Energy on the behalf of the owner/operator SSE Generation Ltd (part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group) to be constructed in Scotland.
The wind farm consists of 15 Siemens 1.3MW turbines giving an overall installed capacity of 19.5MW. The turbines have a 43metre hub height and a 62 metre rotor diameteThank you for youre inr. The wind farm is connected to the substation at Glenluce by a wooden pole over head line.

Artfield Fell is situated in the district of Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway in the south west of Scotland. It lies approximately 6km east of the village of New Luce and 8km north of the village of Glenluce.

It has a mean site elevation of around 250m and an average wind speed of around 8.5metres/second.

The fell is surrounded to the east and north by commercial forestry and the land use on the fell itself consists of rough grazing for sheep and cattle. This land use continues today.

Planning permission for the Artfield Fell Wind Farm and the Section 37 Consent for the overhead line were awarded in 2004 and construction commenced in September 2004. The project was completed in May 2005.
Artfield Fell wind farm was officially opened by Malcolm Wicks MP, Minister for Energy on Wednesday 27 July 2005.
